Data Analyst — Enterprise Data Platform

Team:BI & Analytics
Location / type:Limerick
Reports to:Jeevan Krishna

About the role

AMCS’s Enterprise Data Platform serves the business through Power BI, built on a lakehouse architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) on Azure Databricks. As a Data Analyst, you sit closest to the business — turning stakeholder questions into reports and dashboards, writing DAX and SQL against the Gold layer, and partnering with Data Engineering on what the dimensional model needs to answer the next question. You’re the primary consumer of what Data Engineering builds, and one of the best signals for what it should build next.

What you’ll work on

  • Build and maintain Power BI reports and semantic models on top of the Gold layer (dim_/fact_ tables), using the version-controlled .pbip format

  • Write DAX measures and ad hoc SQL against Databricks SQL Warehouses to answer one-off business questions that don’t warrant a full report.

  • Partner with stakeholders across finance, sales, marketing, HR, and support to turn open-ended questions into well-scoped, testable report requirements.

  • Work with Data Engineering to prioritize and validate new dim_/fact_ models — you’re often the first to notice a gap between what a report needs and what the dimensional model currently supports.

  • Validate the legacy reports being migrated off their old SQL Server logic onto the new data model in databricks — compare new output against old and sign off before cutover.

  • Keep report-level documentation current, including which reports depend on which models, so impact analysis stays trustworthy as the model evolves.

  • Work within the platform’s Beta → Production promotion model — validate everything in Beta before it reaches Production, no exceptions.

What we’re looking for

Must-have

  • Strong Power BI skills: report/dashboard design, DAX, semantic modeling (relationships, measures, calculation groups).

  • Solid SQL — comfortable querying a modern cloud warehouse/lakehouse (MS Fabric, Databricks SQL, Snowflake, Synapse, or similar).

  • Experience translating ambiguous business questions into clear, testable report requirements, not just building what’s literally asked for.

  • Basic grounding in dimensional modelling (facts, dimensions, grain)

  • Comfortable working in a Git-based workflow for version-controlled reports (PR review, structured project files)

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with dbt authoring models & reading model docs/lineage.

  • Exposure to NetSuite or Salesforce as source systems or reporting subjects.

  • Experience validating a data migration — comparing legacy vs. new report output as part of a cutover.

  • Familiarity with Azure Databricks specifically (Unity Catalog permissions, SQL Warehouses).
