We’re looking for a proactive and analytical R&D Business Partner to join our dynamic team and support our R&D function.


Job Overview: As a Business Partner supporting the R&D function, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that drive strategic decision-making and enhance operational efficiency.


This role requires a mix of financial acumen and product operational understanding, enabling you to contribute meaningfully to product initiatives, operational processes, investment decisions, team efficiency, product roadmaps and the delivery of strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with R&D leadership to develop and execute financial strategies that support innovation and product development goals.

  • Provide a data-driven approach to evaluate investment decisions related to R&D initiatives, optimizing resource allocation to ensure maximum return on investment.

  • Assist R&D and product teams in data-driven decision-making processes by providing relevant financial analysis and modelling (including categorising effort across Roadmap, Unplanned, Infrastructure & Support).

  • Collaborate with product operations to analyse performance metrics and drive improvements in team efficiency (including tracking story points, time records, code rework and pull requests).

  • Establishing Cycle time, Lead Time, Up time, Bugs/Time to Resolution, Deployment Frequency, Task Resolution Rate, Completion Burn Down Rate and Road Map End Dates as a reported KPI’s to assist teams to focus on priority items.

  • Monitor and evaluate the ramp-up time of new hires to assess their onboarding process efficiency and identify areas for improvement.

  • Review and analyse product portfolios, focusing on gross margin performance, including cloud and other third-party costs.

  • Foster a close strategic partnership with procurement and accounts payable teams to enhance vendor management, leading negotiations with key technology accounts (including cloud providers).

  • Global responsibility for the reporting of “Paid Development” revenues and partnering with business leaders in expansion programs for customers with funded roadmap initiatives.

  • Partnership with Sales Ops and Product teams to ensure that all product portfolios are ‘priced’ appropriately and on a commercial basis.

  • Work cross-functionally with Tax and R&D teams to ensure that R&D grants are maximized globally.

  • Support M&A activity by conducting technology/customer due diligence and facilitating post-acquisition integration processes.


Required Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in finance, business analysis, product ops, or a related field, preferably within a SaaS or technology company.

  • Proven experience partnering with R&D, product management, or operational teams is highly desirable.

  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proficient in financial software and tools; experience with ERP systems is a plus (eg Jira).

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in Advanced Excel, BI Platforms and other modern financial analysis tools.

  • Understanding of product development processes and Agile methodologies is a plus.
